Red Scare

     The Palmer Raids is a period of time continuing after World War I, during this period the government was focusing on the communist Bolsheviks. The Palmer Raids fwas an ant-communist phase rom 1918-1921. Mitchell Palmer, Wilson's Attorney General, was destroying the homes af all the american workman. In 1919 there as a great amount of social conflict. There were strikes on Prohibition and Women Suffrage, and a Chicago riot.  Palmer's men destroyed offices and headquraters of Communists and Socialist organization. Palmer's men also seized aliens because they had fewer fights. The Red Scare suggests how legal rights can sumit hysterical and public fear.  ^[1]

KKK(Ku Klux Klan)

     Birth of the Nation first movie ever was used as a KKK recruiting movie. NAACP was the main opponent of the Ku Klux Klan. The NAACP's plan was to show members of the organization that it would not be intimdated. They held their 1920 annual conference in Atlanta, which was the most densely populated area at the time of Ku Klux Klan members. After World War I the Ku Klux Klan became very racial towards Jews, Roman Catholics, socialists, communists and anybody else that was a foreigner. In 1922 Hiram W.Evans became the Klan's Imperial Wizard. Under him the organization grew quickly and Klansmen were elected tp positions of political power. These states include Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Oregon and Maine. In 1925 the membership reached 4,000,000.^[2]

        After the war the country cracked down on securtity. The attorney  general Mitchell Palmer stressed the idea of  protection against a radical threat. As a result we were left with the Fedral  Bureau of Investigation aka the FBI.  Despite of the bureau's raid on suspected anarchist's without a warrant this was one of the best securitity developments for the nation.  these thaughts and actions were all caused by the red scare. the treaty of versailles was brought to the nations and germany takes sole responsibilty for the war and ordered reparations although there economy is suffering.  the russian government known as the tzar step down but still continue a civil war leaving lenin and the bulshahviks victorious. These battles end in 1921.^[3]
