In greek mythology, three dieties born of Uranus and Gaea, were responcible of the punishing all and any crime. Striking the criminals with madness, they would follow them around for the rest of their life. it's fair to say that the Furies were the greek's godly representation of guilt.

 

Born when the blood of their father, Uranus the father of the sky, fell onto Gaea the mother of earth and she concieved them during the overthworing of their father.There was Tisiphone, the avenger of murder; then there was Megaera the jelous; lastly was Alecto with unceasing anger.

 

 

Residence-The Furies reside in the underworld but they do rise to earth in order to haunt those who have committed a crime


 

    Appearance

The Furies were depicted as hideous creatures. They were said to be aged woman with wings with serpent hair. blood would be dripping from their eyes. needless to say, they were not the beautiful goddesses that are depicted in most stories.

The Furies are most often related with swords and serpents.


Most Famous Story....

 

according to greek mythology, Theban prince Orestes murdered his mother Queen Clytemnestra. But the prince was only on the command of the god Apollo in order to avenge the death of his father, King Agamnon whom the queen had murdered. The Furies did not care what his motives were and followed him, driving him mad. The Prince went to the goddess Athena who told the three goddesses to stop persuing Orestras. Once the Furies had shown mercy on the man's wish they transformed from frightful into the Eumendies, protector of the suppliant.
