After being struck an arrow from Eros(Cupid), Hades had fallen in love with Persephone, daughter of Demeter(Ceres). He decided to kidnap her while she was picking some flowers with her friends. When Demeter saw her daughter was missing she searched the Earth to find her. Until her daughter was found she decided to put a drought on the land. After searching endlessly with no sign of her Helios(the sun) told her of what happened finally and she complained to Zeus. After hearing the cries of the people he forced Hades to return Persephone but since she had already eaten sme pomogranate seeds she was forced to return to the underworld for half of the year.
